A Life-Changing Accident with Lasting Consequences

On 20 September 2020, Mr Ramatsekisa was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident in Pretoria when the vehicle in which he was travelling as a passenger was struck by another vehicle that failed to stop at a stop street.

The collision resulted in severe and life-altering injuries, including a fractured cervical spine, multiple fractured ribs and a significant head injury with a deep laceration.

At the time of the accident, Mr Ramatsekisa was working as a Union Official while pursuing his LLB degree and building a promising career in the legal field. Despite attempting to return to work, his injuries prevented him from coping with his employment, ultimately forcing him to resign.
The consequences of the accident extended far beyond his physical injuries. His career trajectory, earning capacity and professional aspirations were fundamentally disrupted at a critical stage of his life.

This case demonstrates that the true impact of a serious road accident is measured not only by the injuries sustained, but by the opportunities, independence and future that may be lost as a result.
