A young woman with a promising future in education was just 22 years old when her life changed dramatically following a serious road accident in 2020.
She sustained several severe injuries, including a traumatic brain injury and significant injuries to her spine. These have had a lasting effect on her health, daily life and future career prospects. Before the accident, she had hoped to build a career as a teacher. The consequences of her injuries, however, created significant challenges for her education and her ability to pursue the future she had planned.
Despite these difficulties, she has shown remarkable determination and perseverance as she continues to rebuild her life.
Following successful court proceedings, the Court awarded her R9,302,534 in compensation. The award recognises the serious and lasting consequences of her injuries and the effect the accident has had on her future.
